Your Summer Hair Prep Checklist: What to Book Before June

Summer in Ireland might not come with a guarantee of sunshine, but your hair does not have to leave anything to chance. Whether you are heading on holidays, attending a wedding, or simply want to feel your best through the warmer months, the decisions you make in April and May will determine how your hair looks and behaves all the way through to September.

At Gruaig D4, we see the same pattern every year. Clients leave their summer prep too late, squeeze in a last-minute appointment, and then spend the next three months managing hair that was not quite ready for what the season demands. This guide is here to change that.

Here is everything you should be booking before June.

1. A Colour Consultation or Refresh

If you have been thinking about going lighter for summer, now is the time to start the conversation. Achieving a healthy, seamless Bespoke Blonde is not always a one-appointment journey, particularly if your hair needs to build up to the result you have in mind.

Booking your colour consultation in April or May gives us the runway to do this properly, without compromising the health of your hair. Rushed colour leads to uneven results and damaged ends, neither of which is what you want going into your busiest social season.

If your colour is already in good shape, a Bespoke Gloss at €40 is one of the most effective things you can do before summer. It refreshes your toner, adds shine, and keeps your colour looking freshly done for weeks.

2. A Hair Health Assessment

Before summer arrives with its sun, salt water, chlorine, and humidity, it is worth knowing the current condition of your hair. Porosity, elasticity, and overall hair health all affect how your hair will respond to environmental stressors.

Our team can assess this during your appointment and prescribe the right ritual to protect and strengthen your strands before the season begins. Whether that is our K18 Booster at €20, our Metal Detox Ritual at €30, or our Bespoke Hair Care Ritual at €20, a small investment now will save your hair a significant amount of damage later.

3. Your Cut and Shape

Summer hair has a habit of growing out faster than you expect. If you are heading on holidays in July or attending a wedding in June, you do not want to be dealing with dead ends and lost shape. A fresh cut in May means you leave for your trip looking polished, and your hair continues to fall well for weeks after.

Our Cut and Finish service starts from €75 and is always tailored to your hair type, face shape, and lifestyle. We do not do generic cuts at Gruaig D4.

4. Extensions, If You Have Them

If you are wearing extensions and approaching the three to five month mark, summer is not the time to push them. Salt water, chlorine, and UV exposure all accelerate wear on bonds and tapes. Book your removal and re-application before June to start the season fresh, with extensions that are secure, healthy, and protected.

5. The Curl Revive Spring Special

If you have curly or wavy hair, spring and early summer is the most important time to reset your routine. Humidity is on the way, and hair that is not properly hydrated and defined will frizz before August even arrives.

Our Curl Revive Spring Special, designed by Lindsay, is available as a €20 add-on to any March, April, or May booking. It includes a professional clarify, double-condition, and steam-enhanced mask to restore your curl pattern and protect against the humidity ahead. It will not be available beyond May, so now is the time.

The Bottom Line

The best summer hair does not happen by accident. It is planned, prepared, and protected well in advance. Our senior team is currently taking bookings for April and May, and the most popular appointment slots fill up quickly as the season approaches.

Do not leave it until June. Book now and arrive at summer with your hair exactly where you want it.
